Fees and Investment

Ready to take the first step?

It takes time and courage to find a therapist you feel safe and connected with, and choosing to invest in therapy, especially at a private-pay rate, is a real commitment to your mental health, your relationships, and your future self.

My full session fee is $250 for 50-minute sessions and $300 for 90-minute sessions. This rate reflects my ongoing trainings, certifications, time, labor, and years of experience in EMDR, IFS (parts work), and creative arts therapy with adults in New York State. This rate is intended for clients experiencing reliable income, savings, family support, or regular insurance reimbursement, and able to pay the full fee without it creating ongoing financial strain. Clients paying at the full rate also help me offer more lower-fee sliding scale spots to people experiencing financial hardship.

In our initial consult, we might:

  1. Clarify what you’re hoping will be different in 3–6 months and determine how you can keep progress of your goals

  2. Talk through fees, your budget, and how often we might meet

  3. Get a sense for whether my background and approach fit what you’re looking for

  4. Answer any questions you may have about therapy

Diagram of a green bottle labeled 'The Green Bottle' illustrating a sliding scale for personal financial experience with three tiers. The tiers list different financial abilities and constraints, with Tier 1 having the most financial difficulty and Tier 3 having the most financial stability.

In an effort to provide equitable services at every rate, I operate on an honor-based sliding scale. This image is of “The Green Bottle”, an economic justice tool created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk, may offer you more clarity on where you may fall on the sliding scale. I welcome ongoing conversations about finances during the course of our work together, as circumstances can always change.

Sliding scale spots are limited. If you are able to pay the full fee, I gently encourage you to do so, as it helps keep reduced-fee spots available for those who would otherwise not be able to receive therapy.

The sliding scale is intended for people navigating financial hardship, underemployment, debt, people who are financially supporting family, people who would otherwise be unable to access services.

I offer several tiers on the sliding scale. The exact fee is established on an honor system – there is no requirement for documentation, and we can discuss your specific financial circumstances during the initial consultation to identify a rate on the sliding scale that would be fair to your needs. If I am unable to offer that rate, I will do my best to find referrals for you for other clinicians who may have more availability.

Suggested Questions For Your Insurance Provider

I am happy to provide you with a superbill for insurance reimbursement if you have out-of-network (OON) benefits. Here are some questions you may ask your insurance provider to get more information about your coverage prior to scheduling an appointment, if you are planning to seek reimbursement:

  • Does my plan have out-of-network benefits for mental health care?

  • Do I have a deductible? Have I met any portion of my deductible with other medical expenses this year?

  • What is my “co-insurance”?

  • Does my plan reimburse for therapy sessions provided by a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT)?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What percentage of the psychotherapy services fee will be reimbursed to me?

  • Is approval required from my primary care doctor?

  • What is the process for getting reimbursed?

  • How long does it typically take for claims to be reviewed?

Insurance & Out-of-Network Billing

I do not accept insurance at this time. If you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance provider, I provide monthly superbills for you to submit to your insurance carrier if applicable. This process means that you pay the cost of the session in full at the time of service, and then submit the superbill to your insurance afterwards.
